February 2017 timeline: who said what and when

Over five days in February 2017, the Croatian public record concerning Igor Čerenšek gained four entries: a statement by a fitness coach, the Chamber's statement, a statement by the Committee president, and Čerenšek's own response. February 5: Mirko Krolo's statement

Fitness coach Mirko Krolo gave statements to 24sata that Dalmacija News reported on February 5, 2017. Insulting descriptions of Čerenšek were published as Krolo's statements, not as established facts.

The statements were reported in dated form with the source named. They record Krolo's value judgment and reaction, not an independent conclusion by the media or an institution.

February 6: the Chamber's statement

The Croatian Psychological Chamber published a statement on February 6, 2017, in which it distanced itself from Igor Čerenšek's work and public appearances. The statement said that he did not then have a special license for the field of psychological preparation of athletes.

Maxportal and SportCom reported the statement the same day. Večernji list published it three days later alongside positive references from other sports professionals.

February 9: the Committee president's statement

On February 9, 2017, Anđelko Botica, president of the Committee for Special Licenses, told Večernji list that Čerenšek had made a mistake by referring to himself as a sports psychologist without a license, which was inconsistent with the Code of Ethics.

The statement continued the Chamber's statement and was published with the officeholder's name and the date.

February 10: Čerenšek's response

In an interview with Večernji list on February 10, 2017, Igor Čerenšek responded. He said that he did not call himself a sports psychologist, that a special license was not a condition for working, that he had a basic license issued by the Chamber, and that he had been waiting for months for a response to an official letter.

In the same response, he said that other factors were involved in the Croatian handball players' problems rather than the quality of physical preparation. His words were reported as his own statements.

What follows from the sequence, and what does not

The sequence is documented: an individual's statement, then an institutional statement, then a statement by an officeholder, then the response of the named person. The sequence is publicly available and verifiable.
